Bargaining Committee and Issue-Specific Bargaining Committees
The Bargaining Committee leads the charge to push Management to improve conditions for employees, including bargaining on the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Compensation Agreement, pay bands, and more.
The Bargaining Committee also has several issue-specific committees that are created in response to need, including:
2024 CBA Bargaining Committee: This committee will bargain with Management to write our new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will govern critical issues like benefits and promotions. Topics that union members voted for in a survey and that the Union board voted to bargain on in 2023 include the Examiner Commissioning Program MOU, merit promotions, position classifications, health and safety, and the Volunteer Examiner Travel Pilot Program.
2023-2024 Compensation Bargaining Committee: This committee bargains with Management to write our new Compensation Agreement, which will govern critical issues related to our pay. Organizing Committee
The Organizing Committee plans rallies, media outreach, and mass actions that employees can legally take to reach out to management. One example of the Organizing Committee's important upcoming work is the need to hold management to the pay reset timeline.

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee works with NTEU National to push for a better workplace at our agency through actions lobbying legislators in Congress.

Elections Committee
The Elections Committee organizes and facilitates chapter elections every two years. Committee members are most active during the autumn months of chapter election years. The next election will be in fall 2023.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee sends weekly newsletters, update emails, and other essential communications to members of the bargaining unit. Meets Tuesdays from 4:30-5:00 EST.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee recruits new members and focuses on member engagement.

Health and Safety Committee
The Health and Safety Committee works on topics such as workplace safety and pandemic preparation and response.

Pay Reset Committees
In 2021, Bureau employees submitted their work experience for review by joint committees comprising both NTEU and management representatives. From 2021-2023, pay reset committee members have played a critical role in helping the union achieve equal pay and fair compensation by performing unbiased, accurate assessments of anonymized employee work experience data.

Student Loan Repayment/Tuition Assistance Working Group
This working group advocates for student loan repayment options and tuition assistance options for employees. Established January 2021. Meets Tuesday mornings, 11:00 a.m. EST.
